Shopping
As Patagonia is famous for its outdoor wonders, the typical gifts and souvenirs that visitors take includes many art pieces and handcraft staff made by the Mapuche indigenous, inspired in the local flora & fauna. Other “musts” are the magnificent chocolates, leather clothes, shoes and jackets with that old fashioned ranching culture style.
Also, beautiful home decorative gifts that are made from the wood of the giant trees in the Andes Mountains are very popular.
Art fairs and markets are easy to come by, especially at El Bolson in the Lake District.
Nightlife
The principal characteristic about this Patagonia region is the calm, peaceful and desolate character (except Bariloche Downtown or Ski centers). This is the reason why night life in most of these towns is not a highlight. Even though, you could enjoy visiting typical bars and restaurants offering cozy atmosphere with some authentic “gaucho” playing local music.
